This is the first compact canadensis. Original plant is only 10 feet tall
and wide. A good compact variety with small, elongated heart-shaped
leaves and typical flower color in spring. Leaves are half the normal
size.
The first and only red blooming eastern redbud.
Blooms later than most cultivars and the bare branches are
covered with a late spring show of neon-bright glowing,
red flowers before the glossy, heart shaped leaves appear;
Unique, small weeping redbud; very pendulous
growth habit; young branched plants develop into
fine specimens when staked; purple flowers are
borne profusely on young plants;
Very striking yellow juvenile foliage. Mature leaves turn a
lighter shade of green with age; an extremely strong grower
with an attractive display of purple blooms in spring;
Highly glossy, very leathery green leaves that are extremely
attractive all summer; dark reddish purple flowers considered
one of the reddest of redbud blossoms;
